VULTURE FUND MOVIE A HOAX

Patriotic Front (PF) Media Director Sunday Chanda has described the 2007 Vulture Fund movie clip that mentions Zambia currently being circulated as a hoax.

Mr. Chanda noted that the information is giving a false impression that Zambia’s liabilities have soared so much out of control that they have attracted Hollywood’s attention.

“The current-ness value of the clip is like re-airing a 1982 Falk Lands war movie with a view of convincing people that hostilities have broken out in the South Atlantic because Britain has declared war on Argentina,” Mr. Chanda said.

He added that the Vulture Fund clip was taken from an old series which was released 11-12 years ago on 11 may 2007 called “Numbers”.

Mr. Chanda stated that the episode that was recorded over a decade ago was re-aired on Fox two days ago showing thieves hijack a truck full of medical supplies and $50 million intended for a Zambian relief effort.

“On the other hand, we must emphasize that Hollywood sometimes shows its positive side when it promotes just causes such as amplifying the voice of international social justice; and in this case, the production highlighted how Western ‘rogue’ corporates (vultures) exploit African countries,” Mr. Chanda said.

He further said the timing of this episode is what is perhaps coincidental and it reinforces the current inaccurate and false narrative.

He however disclosed that it is sad that artistic historical exploiters are now partnering with international PR firms and media of menace to jostle and target their victim country’s resources
