UNZA CONGRATULATES PROF. NALUBAMBA ON HIS CORONATION

The University of Zambia (UNZA) has congratulated Dean of Students in the School of Veterinary Medicine Professor King Shimumbo Nalubamba on his coronation  as new Senior Chief of the Illa speaking people of Namwala district in Southern Province.

In a statement made available to Lusaka Star by UNZA Spokesperson Brenda Bukowa, said UNZA community is proud of Prof. Nalubamba for his achievement adding that UNZA management is ready to support him in his new task.  

Meanwhile, UNZA Vice Chancellor Professor Luke Mumba said the University Community is confident that professor Nalubamba is equal to the task given his qualification and exposure and mentor-ship he received from the late Senior Chief.  

“On behalf of the Council, Senate, Management Staff and the Students, i commend the Illa people for the smooth and peaceful transition. We wish him success and God’s grace and guidance as he leads his people,” said Prof. Mumba.

Prof. Mumba has however requested the new Senior Chief to continue serving the university and he has further appealed to the Mbeza Royal Establishment  to permit Prof. Nalubamba to continue his role at the institution. 

Prof. Nalubamba is currently serving as a Dean in the School of Veterinary Medicine at UNZA , among his research interests include epidemiology and parthenogenesis of immune- parasitic veterinary disease.

The widely acclaimed academic ascended to the throne following the death of his father Senior chief Bright Nalubamba on June 6, this year, the coronation of the Senior Chief of the Illa  Speaking people took place yesterday.
