SOMALIS HAD LEGAL STAY AT FAIRVIEW HOTEL- ZIHTS

ZAMBIA Institute of Tourism and Hospitality Studies Executive Director Wilson Silungwe has refuted media reports that 20 Somali nationals that recently were lodged at Fairview Hotel checked out without settling their bills.

Dr Silungwe reacted to a story that appeared in one of the daily newspapers that there were 20 Somali nationals that stayed in the hotel for six days and left without paying on the 16th May to the 22nd of May 2019.

The Executive Director said the story was inaccurate as the hotel was well aware and in contact with the local organizer of the visit by the Somali nationals and that all arrangements for the payments were cleared.

Dr. Silungwe said the local partner in Zambia was working with the hotel to settle the bill as a local sponsor.

He further said the Somali nationals were not illegal immigrants, but that they had full legal documentation to visit the country and they did so by following the immigration laws.
