Government Committed to Supporting Traditional Ceremonies

Lusaka Province Minister, Japhen Mwakalombe says government has remained committed in supporting traditional ceremonies.

Speaking during the fundraising event for the Ncwala Ceremony held at Arcades shopping Mall today, Mr Mwakalombe said government considers all Zambian traditional ceremonies to be of great importance.

“The PF government places great importance in supporting traditional ceremonies which form the bedrock of our culture and indeed our society,” he said

Mr Mwakalombe explained that the Ncwala Ceremony is one of the biggest traditional ceremonies in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region.

The Minister was also quick to note that the ceremony is a symbol of strength in the Southern Region.

Mr. Mwakalombo praised the Impis for their bravity shown in fighting for their motherland

“We are where we are today because of the Impis who sacrificed their lives,” he added.

Mr. Mwakalombe further encouraged Zambians to turn up in numbers at the Mutenguleni in Chipata, Eastern Province.

“We want to encourage all Zambians including those in the diaspora and indeed the tourists to turn up in numbers at Mutneguleni to witness this spectacular ceremony.

And Mr. Mwakalombe has urged businesses participating in the ceremony to take the ceremony seriously stating that the ceremony will help advertise outside the country.

 

He explains that the ceremony is attracting a lot of participants and businesses will not only reachout t Zambians at the ceremony but also those from outside the region present at the event.

 

The Ncwala Ceremony set for 23rd to 25th February, 2017 is a yearly event meant for thanksgiving for the first harvest of the season.
