ZESCO United dedicated to develop Zambian football

ZESCO United football club has vowed to continue supporting football in Zambia through its annual ZESCO managing director’s tournament ZESCO United football club has vowed to continue supporting football in Zambia through its annual ZESCO managing director’s tournament.

The ZESCO managing director’s tournament is used as a platform for discovering new talent from different parts of the country.

In an interview with the Lusaka Star, ZESCO United acting chief operating officer Linus Chanda said the club was dedicated to supporting football in the country adding that the tournament was used as a tool to develop football.

“We will continue to support Zambian football and we hope to scout for new talent for our division clubs such as Malaiti football club,” Chanda said.

He further added that if the talent was good enough, they would be taken to the premier league where Zesco was playing.

Chanda said the talent discovered through the tournament would greatly contribute to the development of football in the country by ensuring the country had good quality players.

This year’s ZESCO managing director’s tournament managed to attract the likes of Zesco United A and B, Zesco Shockers, Zesco Solwezi, Malaiti Rangers, Zesco Luapula, Zesco Victoria Falls as well as Zesco United Academy.

This years annual tournament was held at Barclays Sports Complex, NASDEC and Sunset Stadium.
