This October American medical personnel will conduct a medical workshop at Lusaka’s Olympic Youth Development Centre A TEAM of sports and medical experts from the United States of America (USA) is expected to arrive in the country to conduct clinical workshops for local medical and sports personnel.

The programme, slated for October 25, will be held at Lusaka’s Olympic Development Centre (OYDC) and is expected to attract team doctors from various sport clubs as well as coaches and technicians from various sports disciplines.

Speaking in an interview with the Lusaka Star, Zambia National Basketball Team Technical Director, Johnny Zimba, said it was a privileged moment for the basketball team as they will benefit greatly from the workshop and help build a healthy team.

“The programme is important for us as a sporting institution as it will also enhance basketball talent and help to build healthy teams of local youths,” Zimba said.

The team has been coming annually to Zambia for similar programmes and there have been many beneficiaries from their programmes since inception.

One of the people that have benefited from the previous programmes is Patson Siame, a US based basketball player, who has also been summoned for the Supreme Council of Sports in Africa ahead of the Zone 6 under 20 Games.

The coaching and medical workshops, as well as the medical checkups for athletes, will be conducted at Lusaka’s Beit Cure Hospital.
