FIRE SWEEPS THROUGH A GARAGE IN NGWERERE WARD

Fire has swept through a garage in Ngwerere ward in Lusaka province leaving all vehicles brought for repairs completely burnt to ashes.

In an interview with Lusaka Star, Ngwerere Ward Councillor, Adrian Banda said the incident happened in the early hours of Wednesday leaving a tray of destruction at the garage.

“I just received a report that a local garage in my ward has been gutted. This report prompted me to rush to the scene and ascertain the extent of the damage caused by the fire,” said Mr. Banda.

The civic leader said preliminary investigations conducted so far reveals that the inferno might have started from one of the shops attached to the garage.

Mr. Banda alleged that there were so many illegal overload connections from the shops that could have caused the inferno.

The civic leader said the total cost caused by the inferno is yet to be established as some of the owners of the burnt vehicles have not appeared on the scene.

He furthered appealed to the local business houses in garden Compound not to engage in illegal connection of electricity and always engage a qualified and certified electrician.
