The five players will join hundreds of youths from various soccer academies that will meet in Gothenberg, Sweden this october. LUSAKA’S Chiparamba Youth Football Academy has chosen five players to attend football trials in Sweden in October this year.
The players that have been selected comprise of three boys from the Zambia under-17 national team namely Chibuye Mululo, Albert Ngosa and Lyson Thole.
The other two players are Prince Lungu and Jackson Nyirenda who are currently skippers for Chiparamba team.
Speaking in an interview with the Lusaka Star, Chiparamba Football team coach Friday Samu said that the annual trials are held with the aim of promoting young soccer talent that might end up playing in big junior clubs all over Europe.
Samu said he was optimistic that his boys will do well in the trials as it is not their first time to attend programmes of that nature.
He said Chiparamba Youth Academy will prepare the players adequately and that they will not fail the trials.
He explained that his team is in high spirits and is currently in third position in the Lusaka Football Association League having played 14 games; winning 11 , losing two and drawing one.
Samu said Chiparamba have got six games in hand and that he is confident that the team will win the league this season.
Chiparamba who are defending champions of the Independence tournament as well as the under 14 Gothia cup are being sponsored by Dunross and Company of Sweden.
The Gothia Cup is a youth association football tournament held annually in Gothenberg, Sweden, and it open to both girls and boys between the ages 11 and 19.
The Gothia Cup is also the largest youth tournament in the world with over 1500 teams from over 70 countries participating each year.
