LCC GIVES OYDC GREEN LIGHT TO RESUME ALL SPORTS ACTIVITIES

The Olympic Youth Development Center (OYDC) Zambia has been given a go-ahead by the Lusaka City Council (LCC) to resume all sports activities which were suspended indefinitely following the outbreak of the Coronavirus.

The resumption of all sports activities was revealed in a press statement released to the media by OYDC Communications Officer Noah Silomba.

According to a statement, OYDC Zambia, Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Freidrick Chitangala revealed that the centre is fortunate that the permit was granted.

Dr. Chitangala added that key stakeholders such as national sports federations will be engaged before resuming all activities to formulate a roadmap at the facility as the country continues to record a surge in Covid-19 cases.

We will be engaging national sports federations on how best we can resume selected sports disciplines with strict health measures. We are happy that we finally got the permit we have been waiting for since few months ago,

he said.

However, Dr. Chitangala stressed that the centre will not resume any sports activities until further notice is given.

The sports activities were suspended by the Zambia Sports Development Centre on the 17 th March, 2020 following the pronouncements by Minister of Health Dr. Chitalu Chilufya on measures being taken to avoid any possible outbreak of the Coronavirus.

The permit was issued by the LCC after consultative meetings with the centre.
