Eagles strip Buffaloes of Netball title

The Midlands Netball Association League that was held at Lusaka’s OYDC has come to a close with Green Eagles grabbing the title from the defending champions Green Buffaloes. THE Zambia Police sponsored netball team, Green Eagles have won the Midlands Netball Association League Championship after swatting defending champions, Green Buffaloes in a convincing style.
The fiercely contested netball match ended with a score line of 24-19 after the Zambia Army side, Green Buffaloes, failed to equalize in the second half.
Speaking in an interview with  Lusaka Star, Fixture Secretary and National Volley Team Assistant Coach Lydia Kanyangula said the tournament was a success as it had helped the teams  a great deal in preparing for the forth-coming Zone VI games.
She said the just ended tournament has also helped in identifying talent that will form a good team for the Zone VI games.
“The league was a success, it has  also helped us to prepare for the coming Zone VI games and I am quiet sure we shall make a great team with the wonderful talent I have seen among the competing teams,” she said.
Kanyangula also commended the Midlands Netball Association and sponsors for making the league a success.
“I wish to sincerely thank all the well wishers and Midlands Netball Association for the  moral and financial support that made this tournament a success,” she said.
The just ended league season that started in April this year at the Olympic Youth Development Centre (OYDC) attracted more than nine local teams competing for the title.
