The Go Back to the Land Zambia has commended President Hakainde Hichilema for his initiative to encourage citizens to “Go Back to the Land” and engage in agricultural production.
In a press statement, Organization’s Executive Director, Cyprian Phiri expressed deep gratitude for the President’s visionary leadership in promoting food security and rural economic development.
“Let us all respond to the President’s call,let us go back to the land not just in words, but in action. Together, we can feed Zambia and unlock the untapped potential of our rural areas,” Mr Phiri said.
Mr Phiri emphasized the importance of collective participation in agricultural production, involving individuals, communities, the private sector, civil society organizations and development partners.
He praised the President for leading by example and demonstrating a genuine commitment to transforming Zambia into a food secure nation.
“We applaud the President for leading by example and demonstrating genuine commitment to transforming Zambia into a food secure nation,” Mr Phiri said.
“His stance encourages us all to take agriculture seriously not only as a means of survival but also as a business opportunity capable of empowering households and strengthening the economy.”
He called on the government to create an enabling environment that supports innovation, access to affordable financing as well as reliable markets for emerging farmers.
Mr Phiri also urged local and international stakeholders to partner with government efforts by investing in sustainable rural development.
“Such partnerships will go a long way in boosting productivity, preserving the environment, and lifting people out of poverty,” Phiri said.
