UNZA Students Say Viral Fame Brings Both Opportunity and Pressure.

University of Zambia (UNZA) students have said that going viral on social media presents both opportunities and pressure, as online popularity continues to shape student experiences and public perception.

Speaking in an interview, Lusaka-based content creator Ronald Expensive said he has no regrets about posting the widely discussed PG twins, describing social media as a platform driven by engagement.

“Going viral is very good because it has helped me in so many ways,” he said, noting that he has gained opportunities and built connections with successful individuals. However, he expressed concern over some of the harmful comments directed at the twins.

Meanwhile, Petronela Gwati, one half of the PG twins, said she experienced no harm from the viral video featuring her and her sister, adding that the exposure has created opportunities to advance her career.

Gwati said the attention led to an opportunity with ZANIS TV, where she is set to host a programme titled Youth Podcast Show.

“Our parents did not say anything about what was happening on social media because they were okay with it,” she said, adding that negative comments did not affect her and that she had not expected to trend online.

UNZA student Grifen Moyo said he was not surprised by the twins’ popularity, attributing it to their personality and accent, which made them stand out. He, however, described much of the online reaction as negative.

“UNZA is the biggest university, so every student wants to be known,” he said.

The remarks highlight growing concerns among students about the pressures associated with online visibility, even as viral fame continues to open doors for career opportunities.
