ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY URGED TO OBSERVE COVID-19 GUIDELINES

National Arts council of Zambia (NAC) has implored individuals in the entertainment industry to strictly adhere to COVID-19 guidelines in order to curb the spread of the virus.

In an interview with Lusaka Star, NAC Director Adrian Chipindi said this is important as it will safeguard the health and well-being of the Zambian people as a whole.

We are encouraging artists to be compliant with the ministry of health’s guidelines for example the usual social distancing and masking up,

Chipindi.

The NAC director has thanked promoters of the industry [entertainment] for their continued support.

Meanwhile, renowned filmmaker and actor Owas Mwape has expressed concern over the current concern over how the current COVID situation has affected the entertainment industry.

We are production, meaning we can’t keep people with masks on all the time, so we have to get our people tested almost every week as we are at high risk of contracting the virus,

Mwape.

He noted that COVID-19 has not affected production negatively as his film production company has come up with a hygiene policy intended to help curb the spread of the virus.

Fortunately, we have not been badly affected because when people are quarantined or are going into lock down, they need content and that is what we are proving as we have become essential workers which is a plus for us,

Mwape.

Now we have worked on about 140 episodes and we are still doing more, this is how we can begin to attract more international broadcasters to ensure that they buy as much content as possible.
