THE University of Zambia Student Union (UNZASU) will next academic year start hosting a social gala to revamp the diminishing entertainment activities at the institution.
UNZASU social and cultural secretary Joseph Nsama, says the social gala would be used as a platform for students to showcase their talents and market themselves to the outside world.
“In the past, UNZA was the most entertaining place when it comes to entertaining students and the locals. this gala will not only be used for entertainment purposes but it will also give a platform for students to showcase their talents to the world out there,” he says.
He explained that apart from talent shows, the social gala would include activities such as the sale of clothes, shoes, jewellery, books, food, beverages and alcohol by any interested students and outsiders.
Nsama says that UNZASU was planning on purchasing a Public Address (PA) system that would be used to host the social gala and other future events.
Nsama said the PA system would greatly help the Union raise funds through hiring it out that would be used for other financial needs such as paying for the hardship loans to the underprivileged students.
The Union has called on student associations within the institution and the corporate world to help fund the initiative.
