Smart Zambia Institute in collaboration with Zambia Postal Services(Zampost) has announced plans to develop a digital ecosystem aimed at improving citizens’ access to government services while promoting accountability and transparency.
Speaking during a media briefing in Lusaka, Government Chief Technical Officer Ms. Kasali Musenge emphasized the need for inclusive digital transformation.
“It is very important that we move together as a country and ensure that no one is left behind.” Ms. Musenge said.
She said government efforts are targeting rural and remote areas, where citizens are being equipped with basic digital skills to access services such as social cash transfers and other social protection programmes.
Ms. Musenge highlighted that ZamPortal, a one-stop platform will allow citizens to pay taxes, settle land rates, and access multiple government services online.
Ms. Musenge added that the platform has already facilitated over 300 digital services and generated approximately seven billion kwacha in revenue.
And ZAMPOST Acting Postmaster General, Ms. Siphiwe Zama said,the institution is helping bridge the digital divide by transforming post offices into digital service centres.
“We are positioning our post offices as digital frontline centres to ensure every citizen can access government services,” she said.
Ms. Zama added that continued partnerships will help expand access and strengthen citizen engagement.
She stressed that goal is to ensure that the benefits of digital government reach every Zambian citizen, regardless of location.
