UPPZ PRESIDENT BEMOANS GOVERNMENT INSUFFICIENT EFFORTS IN TAKING DEVELOPMENT TO RURAL AREAS.

Prosperous and Peaceful Zambia (UPPZ) party president Charles Chanda has expressed disappointment over government’s inadequate supply of development to rural areas around the country.

Speaking on UNZA Radio’s Lusaka Star program, Mr. Chanda said, it was unfortunate that the government has not prioritized taking development to rural areas.

Mr. Chanda also pointed out that during elections every part of the country regardless of how remote some areas are receives the necessary election material but wondered why the same should not be the case for development in all parts of the country.

He further added that a lot must be done to also improve the educational standards in rural areas because from his experience in Mangangu he witnessed that some teachers are not very competent to a point where they cannot construct a proper English sentence.

“It is sad to see the levels of illiteracy among teachers and pupils in the communities in these areas and they can not do anything about it because it is all they have,” said Chanda.

And Mr. Chanda also questioned why the government would mismanage money given to it by donors to enhance development of education especially in rural areas when it is more than evident that development is desperately needed in these areas.

He also called on government to realise that Zambia is bigger than Lusaka and must insure development is spread to all corners of the country.
