LUSAKA CITY COUNCIL CLEANS NEW SOWETO MARKET

 

The government through the Ministry of Local Government and Housing has completed the cleaning exercise at New Soweto Market after complaints from traders

On Oct, 29. 2018 traders at New Soweto Market thanked the government the government over the cleaning exercise that had been undergoing for almost a week.

Speaking in an interview with Lusaka start, Lusaka City Council Public Relation Officer George Sichimba said the the council will try to keep the market place clean but its up to the traders to exercise high hygienic standards.

“Market places are a major source of cholera outbreak, hence the council will try to keep the market place clean to avoid any outbreak this coming rainy season,” he said.

Meanwhile, one of the traders Brian Chisenga said the  council delays to act on issues raised by traders because the complaints have lasted for over four months

“I am pleased that finally the government has come to our aid,but the council must come up with measures that will help keep the market place clean clean not just during the rainy season, ” he said.
