ZESCO United moves back to the top of the MTN/FAZ super league table after defeating city rivals Forest rangers 1-0.
A week 23 fixture played on saturday at former Zesco home ground, the trade fair stadium in Ndola witnessed the former champions make a quick climb on top of the FAZ super league table.
The only goal of the Ndola derby was scored by Akalulubelwa Mwachiaba giving Zesco a first flight in the title race. Title rivals, Nkana suffered a 1-1 draw against the reigning champions Zanaco.
The game witnessed two early goals at Sun Set Stadium of Lusaka with Zanaco making the early lead after Mwela Sakala scored in the first two minutes of the match.
Nkana later leveled with a good effort after Donashano Malama picked up a loose ball from Zanaco player Ronald Kampamba. Arrows picked up 38 points placing them on the 3rdposition after capitalizing on Stanley Nshimbi’s goal against Napsa Stars at Woodlands stadium.
And on the 4th position is Nchanga Rangers also 38 points but suffering on the goal difference against the third placed Arrows.
Zesco United who were crowned champions of the MTN/FAZ super league in 2007, 2008 and 2010 following the departure of WedsonNyerenda who led them to their first two victories is battling to end three year spell.
