MIVA EXPECTS 14 VOLLEYBALL TEAMS IN 2013 LEAGUE

The League wil comprise of eight and six volleyball teams for the men and women respectively MIDLANDS Volleyball Association (MIVA) General Secretary Evans Mwimba has announced that the Association expects a total number of 14 teams to participate in this year’s MIVA league for the men and women which is set to begin this week on 20th April 2013.

The MIVA league comprises of teams from Lusaka and Central provinces of Zambia and it is categorized in three groups namely Clubs, Colleges/ Institution of Higher Learning and Community Teams.

Speaking in an interview with the Lusaka Star, Mwimba said that this season will note the return of teams to the league such as Government printers, NAPSA, Southern Select (Women), City of Lusaka (Men) after not being in action in last year’s league.  

He added that he expected this year’s league to be more competitive.

It would comprise of eight and six volleyball teams for men and women respectively.  

“In the men’s league we expect Green Buffaloes, Red Arrows, Green Eagles, Nkwazi and NAPSA for the Club Category, for Colleges/Institute of Higher Learning UNZA, while the Community Teams will include City of Lusaka and Southern Select," Mwimba said.

He added that the women’s teams expected in this year’s league were Green Buffaloes, Government Printers and Nkwazi in the Club category, Kamwala Magic and Southern Select as Community Teams while UNZA, as College/Institute of Higher Learning category.

Mwimba also said that all volleyball teams that were to take part in this year’s league were expected to affiliate with the Association by 30 April 2013.
 The MIVA 2012 Men's league was won by Green Buffaloes while Nkwazi won the Women's league.
