ZANASU COMMENDS BRIAN MUSHIMBA

The Zambia National Students Union (ZANASU) Says the move by Minister of Higher Education Brian Mushimba to take a consultative approach in dealing with issues that affect students and higher learning institutions impacts positively on the affairs of higher education in Zambia.

Mr Kasonde said it is inspiring to note that in less than a month after his appointment, the minister has prioritized the well being of Zambians by reopening the Copperbelt University (CBU).

He commended the minister for lifting the suspension of all students who were suspended in connection with the riot that led to the closure of the higher learning institution.

“As a union we also are requesting government through the Ministry of Higher Education to immediately consider reinstating Copperbelt University Student Union,’’ Mr Kasonde said.

Meanwhile, University of Zambia Student Union President Warran Hamunsunga has also welcomed the Minister’s move to reopen CBU.

He said dialogue was a better way of addressing the challenges faced by students in Universities.
