Zambia posed for regional business hub

Minister of Transport and Communications, Brian Mushimba says Zambia will be a regional hub for investment and trade in the region.

Mr Mushimba said the country needed to exploit its advantage geographical position by creating a hub for the region.

Speaking when he met an investment group, Crowne Air Cargo who paid a courtesy call at his office last Tuesday, the Minister said Zambia opens it’s a market for investors to SADC, COMESA and Great Lakes sub-regions.

And Crowne Air Cargo Zambia Chief Executive Officer, Douglas Berry disclosed that his company would soon set up a regional cargo airline with an initial investment of $500million.

Mr Berry said his company would create 212 direct jobs and 2,800 indirect jobs in the country adding that the company will build the state of the art cargo handling infrastructure at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport (KKIA).

And Zambia High Commissioner to South Africa, Emmanuel Mwamba said foreign missions have shifted focus from political and international relations to economic diplomacy.
