ZDA PRODS GOVT TO PROMOTE HONEY TRADING

Zambia Development Agency (ZDA) has called on Government to come up with favorable trading policies that can promote the honey business.

ZDA Director General Perry Mapani said Zambia has a high potential for honey exportation and a favourable climate good for honey production.

Speaking in an interview with the Lusaka Star, Mr Mapani said there is a high demand for honey within Zambia and other various countries.

He said countries such as South Africa and China have shown interest in Zambia’s honey which shows that there is market.

Mr Mapani also disclosed that China is looking forward to having more agreements with the Zambian Government to increase the supply of honey to their country.

He added that ZDA will engage all the relevant stakeholders to ensure they boost the honey industry in the country.

Mr.Mapani further advised the country to invest more in agriculture as it has even more potential to become the country’s major source of income which will see the reduction of dependence on copper.
