The Lusaka high court has reserved its earlier decision to allow Zambia Armature Athletics association (ZAAA) president Elias Mpondela to join proceedings in the matter involving disputes over the association’s annual general meeting The Lusaka high court has reserved its earlier decision to allow Zambia Armature Athletics Association (ZAAA) president Elias Mpondela to join proceedings in the matter involving disputes over the association’s annual general meeting.
High Court Judge Chalwe Muchenga ruled that mpondela’s interests can be represented by ZAAA secretary general, Phil Kubombela.
Mr. Muchenga premised his ruling on grounds that Mpondela has been reinstated as a defendant in a matter regarding disputes over the association’s impending annual general meeting.
He further stated that Mr. Kubombela was earlier substituted following the election of Yona Mwale on 27th December 2014 as the association’s secretary general in the interim executive led by the renowned athlete Samuel Matete.
However, Judge Muchenga observed that the general meeting that elected Mr Mwale as ZAAA secretary general was dishonestly and ilegally constituted as it was postponed by Mpondela’s executive.
This is a matter in which Matete and others have obtained a court injunction to not be banned from contesting for any position in ZAAA.
