Civil servants in Siavonga District and indeed outside Siavonga have been urged to stay away or rather stop posting negative statements online that are against individuals and Government leaders.
In a statement availed to the Lusaka Star by Siavonga District Commissioner, Lovemore Kanyama states that government was aware of some individuals using fake identities in defaming others.
Mr. Kanyama expressed that once the individuals were identified, the law would follow them up with serious disciplinary action.
The District Commissioner stated that individuals in the civil service practicing partisan politics needed to refrain equally as it affects their work efficiency and effectiveness.
“Let’s not abuse the freedom we have by defaming people when we fail to agree in on something but we should co-exist for education and development purposes,” he said.
He urged members of the public to help in bringing sanity by reporting individuals abusing online media as social media bullying has reached an alarming stage such that if not checked or controlled, the new generation to come would take up such a negative norm.
