Ministry of National Development Planning (MNDP) has dismissed reports circulating on social media containing obscene materials falsely attributed to the institution.
MNDP spokesperson Chibaula D. Silwamba said individuals reported to appear in the said obscene materials have never worked for the Ministry.
Mr. Silwamba said MNDP is committed to upholding high moral values in conformity with the Code of Ethics for the Public Service and Christian values espoused in the Constitution.
“The leadership and members of staff at the Ministry of National Development wish to assure of their commitment to uphold high moral values, on and off duty, in conformity with the Code of Ethics for the Public Service and Christian values espoused in the Constitution,” he said.
Furthermore, the ministry has reminded the general public that production, dissemination or possession of obscene materials is a violation of Section 177 (1) of the Penal Code of the Republic of Zambia.
Mr. Silwamba said anyone found guilty is liable to imprisonment for five (5) years or to a fine not less than K15 000 penalty units nor more than K75 000 penalty units.
The MNDP’s Spokesperson however called on the general public to desist from such unlawful behaviour.
And MNDP promised the public that it will report the matter to law enforcement agencies so that they can institute an investigation and ensure that the culprit is brought to book.
