MoU BETWEEN ZNVAC AND HGH TO UPLIFT ARTISTIC WORK IN ZAMBIA

Zambia National Visual Arts Council (ZNVAC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Hilton Garden Hotel (HGH) to promote, stimulate and sustain artistic works and cultural products.

Speaking during the signing ceremony, Chairperson for ZNVAC, Chande Kapundu said the MoU between the two stakeholders will help participating artists to market their work, stimulate new thinking and sustain their products.

Mr. Kapundu said the move is fully supported by the government and that the two stakeholders have to ensure it brings about social and economic development.

“The fact that government is here shows that political will, so it is up to the two parties to make most use of the MoU for the social and economic benefit,” said the Chairperson for ZNVAC.

He added that the council will do its level best to sustain the business relationship between the two institutions.

And the Minister of Tourism and Arts Charles Banda extended appreciations to National Arts Council (NAT) and VAC for partnering with HGH in the promotion of arts and culture in Zambia as this will bring about human development.

Dr. Chanda said the initiative has created a promotional and income generation platform for artists.

However, he had called on the ZNVAC and VAC to work together for a common goal and ensure there is interaction between contemporary art and iconic property.

Also present at the ceremony was HGH General Manager Kudzayi Nheweyembwa who said that the hotel will enhance the place of Lusaka for business tourism as it has all modern facilities to support the vision.

“Hilton Garden Hotel has all modern facilities, fitness and leisure that visitors expect from a good hotel; as such, it will enhance the attraction of Lusaka as a place for business tourism,” said Mr. Nheweyembwa.
