CHIEF MWENETATE DIES

Chief Mwenetate of the Nkoya people of Luampa district in Western Province has died.

Luampa District Commissioner, Winnie Kamayoyo has confirmed the death of the Chief to ZANIS today.

Ms. Winnie Kamayoyo said the Chief died yesterday around 06:00 hours at his palace after a short illness.

She said the Chief will be greatly remembered for his fight against child abuse and early marriages in his chiefdom.

Ms. Winnie Kamayoyo further noted that the late Chief also encouraged the village administration to participate in Community Led Total Sanitation Programme thereby, ending open defecation in most of the villages.

She stated that the body of the late Chief is currently lying in Kaoma Hospital Mortuary.
