Actress, rapper and singer with one of the most beautiful vocals is how to simply describe this young talented pioneer, currently finalising her second album.
Speaking of transitioning from secular to gospel genre, it is with no doubt that Franciar is the artist to look out for.
Being the last born out of 6 children, Franciscar Msiska aka Franciar was born on January 11, 1992 in Zambia’s Kabwe township and was raised in Lusaka’s Matero area.
She did her primary education at Harry Mwaanga elementary school, middle school at Pamodzi girls high school in Mufulira and later graduated from high school in 2008 from Matero Girls.
In 2010, Franciar decided to do her tertiary education at the National Institute of Public Administration (NIPA) where she did her diploma in Business Administration.
From the age of six, singing has been something that the talented artist has been passionate about, from singing in a church choir to being on stage singing for a large crowd.
Franciar first released her first hit “Umutokofyompo” produced by J.O.B under Ben blazer in 2010.
“Umutokofyompo” received major support and became an instant hit making Franciar receive recognition nationally.
Despite receiving so much airplay and support from people, this didn’t stop Franciar from pursuing her business administration diploma, although this couldn’t go hand in hand with school.
She therefore, took a break in order to focus on school before going into music full time.
Later in 2012, Franciar returned to music with a new single and it was in this year that she (alongside other artists) was appointed to create the theme song for the zone six (6) games which included ten (10) other countries.
By September 2012, the songbird was invited to represent Zambia in the United Kingdom at the World Event for Young Artists (WEYA) with three other Zambian artists.
Upon returning from the United Kingdom, Franciar got signed on to a recording contract with Money Music and it was under this deal that She released her album Walasa on 17th July, 2013. And in September 2013, the singer released a rap song titled Ng’ombe yonse (all the cows) which equally received massive air play from the public.
Later on in November, Franciar was selected to be part of a Swedish Zambia event alongside Slap Dee, both artists represented Zambia during the cultural, hip hop, talent and entrepreneurship exchange between Zambia and Sweden. It was in this month that she was nominated for the Born and Bred awards 2013 in three categories. Unfortunately, Franciar did not take the accolades home. However, this was a sign that she was recognized in the industry and this made her work even harder.
Although secular music was going well for the singer, in February 2014 she decided to change her style of music to inspirational/gospel due to the realization for the love of making music that would speak to people’s lives.
She worked with Dj Mzenga Man on a song titled Nsanje (jealousy) her first single from her upcoming album titled the voice.
Upon release, audiences were amazed and captivated with the change in Franciar’s style of music that show cased more of her vocals. After the positive response she received, she was motivated to release her second single from the album titled Namiyewa (missing you) produced and written by Stan industry.
Since then till date, the music icon has continued to release inspiring music which has encouraged and motivated many people across the country. She has not only inspired people through her music but also mentors young people through a youth organization called Set apart. Franciar wishes to continue inspiring and mentoring people through her music as she believes music speaks to the hearts of many.
