ZAVA to support all member clubs

The Zambia Volleyball Association (ZAVA) says it will provide financial support to all member clubs in the country.

ZAVA Vice General Secretary, Katongo Tiyaonse said the association will only provide support to member clubs that have developmental activities for players, coaches and referees.

“For the promotion of sustainability, Zambia Volleyball Association will provide support for developmental structures and a pathway plan that promotes improvement through a vibrant club and competition structure,” Ms Tiyaonse said.

She added that in order to support volleyball, ZAVA has pledged to increase the Sport discipline’s profile across several platforms by providing effective communication as well as marketing key events and participations.

“ZAVA will therefore launch women’s commission whose objective will be to increase women’s participation at all levels of the volleyball structure from players, referees, coaches, female teams and administration and we will also introduce referees’ affiliation,” Tiyaonse added.

Meanwhile, Select Volleyball Club(SVC) Coach, Mark Mulenga applauded ZAVA for this development saying that the initiative will help train youths in activities like volleyball in order to stop them from being involved in bad vices that can endanger their lives.

“This initiative that they have introduced will help a lot of youths and will also help increase participation, we are basically killing two birds with one stone,” he said.

The Association came to this agreement during their annual general meeting which was held on April 22 , 2023 at the Confucious Institute of The University of Zambia (UNZA).
