Rotary Club of Lusaka has launched a fundraising Golf tournament at the Bonanza Golf Course in Lusaka on the 8th of May 2026 .
The tournament which will be sponsored by 15 sponsors with Platinum sponsor set at K 100.000, Gold sponsor at K75.000, Silver sponsor at K50.000 and Bronze sponsor at K25.000.
In an interview with Lusaka star, Rotary Club Project Director Mike Tembo stated that the tournament is an initiative aimed at raising funds for the water and sanitation project at Munkolo School in Makeni area of Lusaka at the budget of around K800.000 with the hope of raising half of it during the golf tournament.
“This project means a lot to not only our club but the school and pupils attending this school with one of the focus area of Rotary for clean water which seats well with this project,” Tembo said.
Meanwhile, the Club Secretary Lusubilo Ngambi stated that the aim is also to raise money to build an ablution block, drill a borehole and provide solar installation .
“we implement projects that create lasting , sustainable impact in communities and deliver measurable community outcomes,” Ngambi said.
And a Makeni resident Faith Phiri encouraged and welcomed the move and stated that it will help a lot of communities that lack basic infrastructures for them to improve.
“Do not just end here but rather move to even rural areas where children still walk long distance to school and build some schools near,” she said.
The school has over 1000 pupils with inadequate ablution blocks to carter for these kids.
