MINA Executive Committee suspended

Netball Zambia (NZ) has suspended the entire Executive Committee of the Midlands Netball Association (MINA) from all netball related activities.

The suspension is due to the committee’s repeated failure to submit financial records for the year 2024 and the first quarter of 2025.

NZ Secretary General, Pritchard Ngoma stated that the decision was also a result of the executive’s continued disregard for accountability and governance requirements.

In a press statement dated June 15, 2025, Mr. Ngoma revealed that three previous requests for management accounts had been ignored.

“We have written to the Midlands Netball Association Executive three times requesting their management accounts. Unfortunately, they have chosen to ignore all the correspondence.”

“This is a serious breach of our governance standards and as such, the Federation has no choice but to suspend the entire executive,” he added.

Mr. Ngoma explained that the suspended officials had been instructed to hand over all association related documents and materials to NZ Treasurer Edwin Musonda Kankutula within twenty-four hours of receiving the official suspension letter.

He warned that non-compliance would result in the matter being escalated to other relevant authorities.

“Failure to comply with this directive will compel us to escalate the matter to other relevant authorities for appropriate intervention,” Mr. Ngoma said.

He reassured athletes and stakeholders that the suspension of MINA’s Executive Committee would not disrupt netball activities in the region, affirming that operations would continue smoothly while the issue is being resolved.

He clarified that the suspension is an administrative measure aimed at restoring order and accountability within Midlands netball operations.

Mr. Ngoma reaffirmed NZ’s commitment to promoting transparency, professionalism, and good governance at all levels of the sport.
