In an interview with Lusaka star, Mwalikwa Sondashi said the golfers only met a day before or during a tournament adding that funds were not provided to cater for their accommodation.
“Accommodation is rarely paid for, so I call the golfers a day before a tournament and ask them to prepare and then we meet during the tournaments,” Sondashi said.
He added, “Golfers stay far from where the tournament is being hosted and are usually tired by the time they are arriving such that they fail to perform while others don’t even show up.”
Sondashi further said that the golfers never have adequate time to train and prepare as a team.
“We need to spend time in camp for at least 5 days or more to train and have time to help each other and see how we can improve as a team”, he said.
Sondashi felt the Golf National Team was being neglected and appealed to the Zambia Golf Union (ZGU) to assist the team financially.
