OPPOSITION ALLIANCE DISAPPOINTED WITH ZCID- MILUPI

The Opposition Alliance is saddened by the poor governance and abuse of resources in the country.

Opposition Alliance Chairperson Charles Milupi stated that the need for dialogue was brought about due to tension in the country which led to international personifies to reconcile the country.

Mr. Milupi noted that after the failed attempt to reconcile and reduce the tension in the country by the international personifies, the church was the next option regarding that Zambia is a Christian nation and the people have high respect.

The church has a moral authority and the alliance has faith in the church as it has expressed disappointment that the ZCID stayed away from the launch.

Patriots for Economic Progress (PeP) President Sean Tembo addressed that the alliance is geared to deliver a credible Zambia as the objective of alliance is to deliver the prosperous Zambia which the Patriotic Front (PF) is not addressing.

The alliance which is constituted by 12 parties namely Natioal Democratic Congress (NDC) led by Dr. Chishimba Kambwili, Forum for Democratic Development (FDD) led by Edith Nawakwi, Forum for Democratic Alternatives (FDA) Ludwig Sondashi and People’s Redemption Party (PRP) Gerry Sikazwe to mention a few.

In 2005 the ZCID was formed to act as cushion for tension but today the ZCID is different and it was funded by donors and this made it work independent.

When it failed to account for funds donor withdrew hence this led the government to take over but now the PF has taken advantage of the situation to abuse the center and it is for this reason, the ZCID is now a slave of the PF.

Due to this, the ZCID cannot represent the interest of the parties and alliance does regret the conduct of the government arms towards the launch of the national dialogue.
