New Confucious Institute constructions underway

Confucious Institute has been in operation at the University of Zambia for the past 3-4 years . THEconstruction works of the new Confucious Institute building at the University of Zambia (UNZA) have begun.
 
UNZA acting public relations manager, Stanslous Chewe confirmed the development to the Lusaka Star in an interview.
 
He said the project which started on the 15th of March is expected to be completed in a period of one year.
 
“This will be a modern building and will add value to the University of Zambia in the sense that it will offer students better learning facilities”, He said.
 
He added that Confucious Institute had been in operation at UNZA for the past 3 to 4 years and has been teaching Chinese and Culture.
 
“Currently the Confuscious Institute  is under the department of  literature and language in the School of  Humanities and Social Sciences but is expected to have its own brand as soon as the new building is complete”, Mr. Chewe further explained.
 
And  the New Confucious Intstitute construction site coordinator, Mr. Min  said the project was being funded by the Chinese government.
 
“We want to complete the external part of the building before the rain season because it will be difficult to build when there are rains”, He said.
 
Mr. Min noted that furnishing the inside of the building will begin upon external completion  and that the whole project was expected to be complete by May, 2015.
 
He said the building is being constructed by Nantong no. 3 Construction Group Company Limited and the company had hired about  70 construction workers.
 
The Building will be located behind the Psychology Department at the University of Zambia Great East Road Campus.
 
The Confucious Institute is a Chinese non-profit public institute aligned with the Chinese Government which aims at promoting Chinese language and culture.
