4 PEOPLE DIE IN A FATAL ACCIDENT

Four people have died on the spot in an accident which occurred on 20th January, 2019 on Great North Road in Kafue.

Zambia Police Public Relation Officer Esther Katongo confirmed the accident that claimed lives in the late afternoon yesterday.

Ms Katongo revealed that the accident  happened when the driver of a Toyota Allion overtook improperly and hit into a Toyota Hundai from behind, lost control and was hit by a freight liner truck which was coming in the opposite direction.

She said the Toyota Allion of registration number BAG 7111 with three passengers on board which collided with Hyundai registration number BAF 2325 and a freight Truck AJD 2883  as all the drivers were heading in the same direction.

The driver of the Toyota Allion identified as Himbala Hatembo, 31 and all the three passengers identified as Luciano Philipo Cebolo, 29, Samuel Malcom  Bedlington,  26, and a female only identified as Twambo died on the spot.

Motor vehicle Hyundai registration number BAF 2325   being driven by  Grey Alice, 30 and Freight liner Truck AJD 2883 being driven from by Dennis Mweemba, 40.

Ms. Katongo further added that a driver of a Toyota Ipsum registration number BAJ 5034 died on the spot in a fatal Road Traffic Accident which occurred in the late hours on Sunday, 20th January, 2019 in Chisamba on Great North Road.

Involved in the accident was a Scania Truck registration number ALB 6507, a property of Mount Meru was being driven by John Meleki Simalambo aged 45 years of Zanimuone in Lusaka from the South direction to the North.

The Toyota Ipsum was driven by Paul Bwalya Mpange aged 49 years of Meanwood Kwamena, Lusaka driving from the direction of North to South.

“The accident happened when the driver of the Scania Truck was overtaking improperly and in the process went to hit into the Toyota Ipsum and the driver of the Ipsum died on the spot while  three passengers on his vehicle sustained serious injuries but the driver of the truck escaped unhurt,” Said Katongo.

The bodies of the deceased are at the  Liteta Hospital mortuary awaiting to be transferred to University Teaching Hospital (UTH)  mortuary in Lusaka while the three injured victims are admitted to Liteta Hospital.
