GOVT URGED TO ENGAGE YOUTHS IN DEVELOPING THE NATION

Zambian youths have called on government to prioritise the implementation of programmes that will enable them to contribute to the development of the nation.

Speaking in an interview with Lusaka Star, Action Aid Activist, Liseli Ndalamei said there is need to implement more youth programs in the country especially that the country has celebrated 55 years of independence.

Ms Ndalamei explained that the development of any nation needs the active participation of youths in all sectors adding that this can only be achieved when government creates more employment for the youths.

Zambia has many youths that have so much to offer in terms of economic building but they are somewhat limited because of lack of opportunities offered by government.

She said.

Ndalamei added that youths equally have a role to play and this can only be done through engaging more in entrepreneurship activities and heading into the private sector.

Meanwhile, Brain Chansa, a second year student at the University of Zambia in the Department of Business Administration commended government for its efforts in youth empowerment across the country.

Mr Chansa noted that government is working with different stakeholders from all walks of life to create even more employment opportunities.

We should learn to build from what has been started and support the government of the day in their endeavors to develop the economy of the country.

Said Mr Chansa.

He further added that it was the duty of every citizen especially the youths to work hand in hand with the government in ensuring that the nation develops.
