Fastjet Airlines launches operations in Zambia

Fastjet airlines has officially launched its second international route today on 1st February, 2014 in Lusaka, Zambia. Fastjet Airlines has officially commenced operations on their second international route from Dar-es-salaam which landed at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport on 1st February 2014 at about 11:47hrs Central African Time (CAT).

Fastjet Marketing Director Jai Gilbert said it is a good to have launched services on this route, in support of the strong trade connection between Tanzania andZambia will ultimately strengthen their relations.

He further said that flight fares are significantly lower than fares from operators offering non-direct flights between the two cities.
Flights will operate twice weekly between Dar es Salaam and Lusaka, with fares startin from as low as TSh120,000  or ZMW 450 (excluding tax and other charges).
This addition to the fastjet network is in recognition of the needs of a growing number of people, many of whom are currently undertaking long 25 hour journeys by road between Dar es Salaam and Lusaka.

Fastjet will fly the 952 mile journey between the two cities in around 2 hours and 25 minutes, Said Gilbert.

And the Media and Public Relation Manager of Zambia Tourism Board Charisto Chitamfya said two airlines are officially taking off in Lusaka this month; Fastjet and Mahogany Air Charters.

 Fastjet launches today 1st February, 2014 while Mahogany will commence on 22nd February.

With Proflight having signed a global ticketing agreement with Emirates a few days ago, Zambia is surely set to raise her profile on the international scene notes Mr. Chitamfya.

The Zambian government has also received the new airline with great pleasure as it will play a notable role in the fostering of development between the two countries.

Fastjet is a pan-African airline based at Tanzania’s Dar-es-Salaam Airport.

The airline was established through a partnership  and launched its services on 29th November, 2012 with two daily flights on two domestic routes in Tanzania.
