Samukonga appreciates HH

Zambia’s renowned athlete Muzala Samukonga has thanked Zambia’s Republican President Mr. Hakainde Hichilema for honouring him with President’s Insignia of Meritorious Achievement award.

The athlete was honored during the Africa Day Investiture Ceremony held at State House on May 25, 2023 for his outstanding performance at the World Athletic Continental Tour 2023.

In an interview with Lusaka Star, Samukonga said it is a privilege to be honored and acknowledged by the president himself and the entire nation.

“Me preparing for the world championship and receiving the Meritorious Achievement award, has encouraged me to train extra hard and to focus on the competition,” he said.

Samukonga also expressed gratitude to all his supporters, attributing them as the reason for his successful performances at the African Championships and the Commonwealth games giving him the chance to represent Zambia in international competitions

“I do not know how to appreciate you all but may the almighty God bless you on my behalf and meet you at the point of need and always remember in everything that you do always involve God,” Samukonga said.

Meanwhile, Samukonga’s manager Mike Kunda said both national and global communities have witnessed Samukonga’s outstanding achievements because of his great performance.

“He has established himself as a top athlete worldwide, holding the leading record of 43.91 seconds in the 400m race,” he said.

Mr. Kunda expressed his confidence in Samukonga’s ability to represent the country in the upcoming world championships.

“We rely on the support of the divine as the almighty has been by our side from the very beginning and will continue to guide us,” Mr. Kunda said.

He also expressed his appreciation for the support that Simukonga has received throughout his journey.
