FAZ COMMENDS CHAN , U-17 SQUADS

The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has congratulated the Zambia men’s football teams for their victories in the African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifications and 2019 COSAFA championship respectively.

In a statement made available to Lusaka Star, FAZ President Andrew Kamanga and his Executive Committee congratulated the CHAN squad for qualifying to the Cameroon 2020 CHAN and the junior team for winning the 2019 COSAFA championship in Blantyre, Malawi.

“On behalf of my executive and entire football community, I wish to congratulate the players and the technical bench of the CHAN team. We are happy that they have met the target of qualification and we look forward to a good tournament next year in January,” he said.

Mr. Kamanga explained that the qualification to the CHAN is an important step towards building a Chipolopolo brand.

He noted that joining 16 other top African teams in Cameroon is not a minor achievement for a team that also won the 2019 COSAFA championship.

Mr. Kamanga added that FAZ will always give the team the best possible preparations for the tournament to ensure that they do well at the competition.

He extended his congratulatory message to the Under-17 national team that lifted the COSAFA cup yesterday in Malawi.

“Our Under-17 have done us proud in Malawi and built on the success of other teams this year in regional competitions,” Mr. Kamanga said.

Under 17 Zambia Men’s national team crowned champions of the 2019 COSAFA Championship.

The FAZ president stressed that the team’s success is part of the seed sown through a well-structured grassroots program, adding that the FAZ Technical Directorate has the responsibility of tracking the boys of these future stars and ensuring that they continue to grow.

The junior Chipolopolo beat Mozambique 2-0 in the final to lift the COSAFA cup.
