Airtel partners with ZNBC for better live football match coverage

Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation (ZNBC) Director General Chibamba Kanyama has said the national broadcaster has a huge challenge in covering live games. Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation (ZNBC) Director General Chibamba Kanyama has said the national broadcaster has a huge challenge in covering live games.

Mr. Kanyama’s observations follows the recent technical problems experienced during the Zimbabwe Zambia match as well as the Zambia Uganda Africa Cup qualifier game hosted in Uganada.

"The biggest challenge we have in covering the games is sound and we have realized it is a communication problem that is why we are going to engage Airtel to help us solve this problem, as u can remember during the Zimbabwe Zambia match no sound was heard during half of the game and during the Uganda match again we had no sound for about 10 minutes," Kanyama said.

However, speaking during his tour of Airtel Zambia head office, Mr. Kanyama was quick to note that  the national broadcaster’s  better coverage of live football matches and various sport disciplines was underway as ZNBC would be partnering with Airtel to give the much needed technical assistance.

Mr. Kanyama who was impressed with the state of the art equipment at Airtel Zambia, said the picture quality was much better as it had been handled by various international media.

And Mr. Kanyama also urged the constructors building the stadiums to be cautious and put in place measures to allow media to broadcast the matches better.

"I should say even the people constructing these stadiums have to put in measures in order to allow us to cover these matches adequately and with quality," said Kanyama
