The Ministry of Health says the distribution of the non-surgical male circumcision gadgets (Prepex) that the country received from Israel last week is currently underway.
The Ministry Spokesperson Dr. Abel Kabalo said the Ministry is working in collaboration with Jhpiego in implementing active surveillance of the PrePex device and that so far 731 circumcisions had been done.
The distribution list is being done and we will communicate to the public once we are ready to undertake the distribution process,” Kabalo said.
He said the ministry will not wipe out the surgical circumcision method but that both methods will be used to circumcise males in the country.
Dr. Kabalo also revealed that 1.4 million males were circumcised in 2018 using the surgical circumcision method.
On 13th March,the Israeli government donated non-surgical male circumcision gadgets (Prepex) to the Ministry of Health.
