MAN ON THE RUN AFTER ALLEGEDLY PAYING K7000 FAKE NOTES TO HIS IN-LAWS

A Man identified as Lazarus Mbewe of Kitwe, Nkana East has been missing for almost 2 weeks after his in-law took him to police for paying dowry using fake kwacha notes.

Mr. Mbewe was charged K8000 as dowry fee to marry Hellen a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kaira from Kitwe parklands. It is believed Lazarus paid a full payment of K7500 with a balance of K500 to be paid later on as agreed by family members.

But unfortunately out of the K7500 he paid, only K500 was original Zambian kwacha, the K7000 were all counterfeit notes. This was discovered by his in-laws later on.

He was called by the in-law and told he had brought fake money, Mr. Mbewe rather denied paying counterfeit notes and claimed he had brought the original Zambian kwacha notes.

This led his in-law to report the matter to the police, but ever since he learned of the police matter he ran from his apartment and he is currently nowhere to be seen.

Police is still investigating and searching for his whereabouts.
