Government dismisses social media allegations‎

Chief Government Spokesperson, Cornelius Mweetwa has dismissed social media allegations that President Hakainde Hichilema demanded for refund of visa application fees for all rejected Zambian applicants.‎‎

Speaking during a Media engagement , ‎Mr Mweetwa emphasised that President Hichilema did not demand visa refunds from the European Union (EU) and the United Kingdom.

‎‎”The public should exercise caution and verify information through credible and official channels before treating it as fact,” He urged.

‎‎The Minister clarified that at no time did the President or any government official demand visa refunds from the European Union and United Kingdom for rejected visa application fees for Zambian applicants.‎‎

There has been trending articles on social media alleging that the Zambian President, demanded that the European Union (EU) and the United Kingdom (UK) refund visa application fees for every rejected Zambian applicant.‎‎

Mr Mweetwa who is also Minister of Information and Media said government remains committed to upholding diplomatic engagements with all its international partners in a spirit of mutual respect and cooperation.‎
