Central province potential centre for national development-UNDP

The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Regional Coordinator Janet Rogan says Central Province has great potential to be the centre of national development in the country. The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Regional Coordinator Janet Rogan says Central Province has great potential to be the centre of national development in the country.

Ms. Rogan said the Province has numerous resources and a great community with good ideas that can foster development across the country.

“Being the centre of Lusaka and the Copper Belt Province, Central Province has potential to be a hub of national development,” she noted.

Ms. Rogan also called on government to take up measures to ensure children who are in prison with convicted mothers have access to good health facilities and quality education.

And Central Province Permanent Secretary Edwidge Mutale expressed happiness towards the work UNDP has done in the province.

Mr. Mutale urged the UN to partner with the Zambian government to endorse more Non-Governmental Organizations to foster development in the province.

He also welcomed the plan of establishing a fast track court in Central Province which will be supported by UNDP.

He said the fast truck court once established will help curb Gender Based Violence cases in the province.
