ZAMBIA developmental squad plays good football and has a lot of potential to win the return leg match- FAZ FOOTBALL Association of Zambia (FAZ) Communications Manager Erick Mwanza, says qualifying to the 2014 African Nations Championships (CHAN) finals in South Africa is of great significance to football development in Zambia.
In an interview with the Lusaka Star, Mwanza said the CHAN championship was a very important tournament for football development.
Mwanza said the Zambia developmental squad was a good and hard working team with potential of winning the return leg CHAN qualifier match against Botswana.
“Our CHAN team is very good, extremely competitive and has already shown good character. Even though we failed to qualify for the championship in 2011, there is a possibility that we will qualify this time around,” he said.
Mwanza explained that if Zambia beat Botswana, they would face Zimbabwe or Mauritius in the final qualifying series for a place at the 2014 CHAN finals in South Africa.
And a soccer fan, Micheck Monde expressed confidence that Zambia would win the return leg match.
"The Chipolopolo developmental squad plays good football. We have the home ground advantage this time and I have no doubt we will beat Botwana," he said.
Monde added that the squad should learn from the mistakes they made in the first leg which cost the team victory.
The Chipolopolo boys face Botswana’s Zebras tomorrow at Levy Mwanawasa stadium in the return leg were Zambia carries an important away goal from the 1-1 draw recorded in Gaborone last weekend.
