A University of Zambia (UNZA) television set stationed at Kafue Common Room has been stolen by unknown people.

University of Zambia Students’ Union (UNZASU) Sports Secretary Nevers Simweemba reported the matter to the security offices.

Mr. Simweemba, who is also in charge of recreation, said he last saw the television set in the common room on 25th January, 2015.

“The television was right here in the common room. Some students were watching football that night,” he recalled.

Mr. Simweemba alleged that the perpetrators of such vices are from the surrounding communities and that the theft of an UNZA television set was a repetitive case.

Dean of Students Affairs Sports and Recreation Officer Mwape Nshimbi said the matter is under police investigation.

Mr. Nshimbi said the police and the internal security are working hand in hand to put the culprit to book.

“We hope to find a lasting solution to theft cases at the institution,” he stated.
