I am deeper than all of them- Ruff Kid

I know it’s going to offend people because I have even mentioned names and I don’t care because the most important thing is that it’s the truth, hence the album The Naked Truth- Ruff Kid AKA Ruff Kaida WITH his controversial new album yet to be launched, ‘Ruff Kaida’ formerly known as ‘Ruff kid’ has received criticism over the cover photo and contents of his album dubbed ‘The Naked Truth.’

Other than the ‘Naked Truth’ controversy, the reason behind the change of his name has raised a lot of clouds among his keen followers and fans.

In an interview with The Lusaka Star, Masautso Nkhoma aka Ruff Kaida said he wants to speak the truth through his songs.

“It’s actually “The Naked Truth.” Nothing is sugar coated, spiced, added or subtracted. It’s just the way it is. If you listen to my album every song on it is real,” said Ruff Kaida.

He said he never bases his music on hearsay even when it was about another rapper because he did not believe in rumour mongering.

“I believe in first-hand information which is my life and I talked about my life on this album. I know it’s going to offend people because I have even mentioned names and I don’t care because the most important thing is that it’s the truth, hence the album The Naked Truth,” he said.

There have been rumours among many Zambia music fans that the album is called naked truth because of how he came out on the cover of his album.

“Obviously people are thinking I am naked on the cover as a publicity stunt or just wanting to give people something to talk about. No! I just make them talk, because what I do is out of this world. I believe am deeper than all of them and I don’t care what the next person says,” said Ruff Kaida.

The artiste who is popularly known as kang’ono by his fans believes his album launch shows will not be like any other. He told Zambian music fans that it will be worthwhile that everybody knows that Ruff Kaida is the best performer there is.

There is also some fuss made about his sudden change of name from Ruff Kid to Ruff Kaida. “Ruff kid was a very outspoken person, he was the crazy guy. Ruff kid was a performer, he was an artist many people never appreciated but he is dead, may his soul rest in peace,” he explains.

The XYZ member said Ruff Kaida is a musical terrorist. He is a person who won’t talk about punch lines and comparing himself to other artistes.

He said lyrically, he can talk about punch lines to show that his punch lines are better than the other artiste’s punch lines but his music is about the truth. He said he believes in what he knows is right he is willing to sacrifice and do anything to change the world.

Ruff Kaida believes his fans that are not comfortable with the change of name will be comfortable soon. “Right now, they’re going through a process called ‘surgery’. They are about to become better because I am removing the bad spirit they have had Ruff kid,” he said.

Furthermore, he said people have talked about him as being an idiot and an irritant. He said such people have listened to his album and they are slowly changing their minds.

Ruff Kaida’s Naked Truth album will be launched in Kabwe on 30 November 2013.
