Hichilema seeks parliamentary approval for Ministries realignment.

President Hakainde Hichilema has sought parliamentary approval for the proposed establishment, merger and dissolution of government ministries in a move aimed at improving public service delivery.

In a press release issued by State House on October 26, 2026, Chief Communications Specialist Clayson Hamasaka said the President had written to Parliament seeking approval for the proposed realignment in accordance with Article 92(2)(d) of the Constitution.

Mr Hamasaka said Vice-President W.K. Mutale Nalumango would move a motion in Parliament seeking approval for the proposed changes.

He said the realignment was intended to ensure that the machinery of government fully supported the Grow Zambia Agenda while improving public sector service delivery.

“The realignment is intended to ensure that the machinery of Government fully supports the Grow Zambia Agenda, while improving public sector service delivery for the benefit of the Zambian people,” he said.

Mr Hamasaka added that President Hichilema had called on Members of Parliament to support the proposed changes, which he said were in the country’s best interests.
