The University of Zambia Students’ Union (UNZASU) presidential aspiring candidate Titus Chisha, popularly known as “Commander Tilo,” has withdrawn from the UNZASU presidential race.
In a statement, Chisha said the decision was not made lightly and was due to circumstances beyond his control.
“I understand that this decision may come as a disappointment to many students who believed in our vision and supported the cause from the beginning, and for that, I sincerely apologize,” Chisha said.
He expressed gratitude to the students for their support and confidence in his candidacy, adding that his decision was made in the best interests of those who had believed in his cause.
Meanwhile UNZASU Electoral Commission Chairperson Webby Mwape confirmed that the commission had received and acknowledged Chisha’s withdrawal.
“The Electoral Commission has accordingly acknowledged his withdrawal and wishes to inform all candidates and students accordingly,” Mwape said.
