THE United Nations (UN) has reaffirmed its commitment in supplementing government in sectors of the country's economy aimed at employment creation and poverty reduction. UN resident coordinator Janet Rogan said this today when the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) donated a mobile testing laboratory worth over K1 million to the Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry.

The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Regional Coordinator Janet Rogan says Central Province has great potential to be the centre of national development in the country. Ms. Rogan said the Province has numerous resources and a great community with good ideas that can foster development across the country. “Being the centre of Lusaka and the Copper Belt Province, Central Province has potential to be a hub of national development,” she noted.

THE United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) will foot 85 Percent of the USD 6 milion new National Registration Card project budget.   In an interview with the Lusaka Star National Registration, Passport and Citizenship registrar general Mathews Nyirongo said 85 percent will be financed by UNDP while 15 percent will be funded by the Zambian government.
